LACES Credit Hours approved. Session I: Biophilic Design and Art: Awakening Our Connections to Nature
We have a new opportunity to use our inherent ability to inspire people with the beauty of nature by incorporating biophilic design and art into our buildings. By fully integrating our buildings into the environment, we can help people understand the beauty of humanity living in harmony with nature. After a guided meditation, the presenters will discuss why biophilia it is so relevant to public gardens and then walk through a process to show how it can bring out the spirit of a building and inspire occupants and visitors to change the way they interact with the world.

Session II: Challenging Notions of Art + Engaging Visitors with Nature. The Arts in Nature Program at Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest
Bernheim’s Arts in Nature programs promote multi-disciplinary explorations of our relationship with the natural environment through artistic expression. The program enhances the visitor experience through interaction with contemporary art and artists. It creates a focal point where art, nature and people intersect, inspiring deep connections with nature. This presentation will share the core principles and examples of the Arts in Nature program and discuss how this is accomplished with a modest budget.
