Event Type:
Session
Track:
Alluring Art and Exhibitions
Date / Time:
Tue June, 24 - 9:45am to 11:15am
Location:
Denver Ballroom 3
Presenter:
E. Toby Singer, Palm Beach County Art in Public Places, West Palm Beach, Florida, J. McGregor, Wave Hill, Bronx, New York

Looking for art that is beyond the blockbuster? Learn how gardens, parks and campuses around the country are working with artists to connect with visitors of all ages. From national examples, participants will learn how to involve artists in diverse projects. They’ll also be exposed to the distinct roles and perspectives artists contribute to the process and outcome of projects, and how these differ from others on a project’s team such as the landscape architect, horticulturist and curator. Presenters will address best practices for engaging artists such as defining scope of work, setting expectations and sourcing artists.
